SMSO 2012

Show Me Shoot Out – Info & Itinerary

2012 Shootout Application

The Southern Missouri Rangers will once again be hosting the SASS Missouri State Championship “Show-Me Shoot”  Oct. 24th – 28th but, this year we’re excited to announce the Shoot will be relocated to the SMR Home Range affectionately dubbed the “SMR Outlaw Range”!!

The Southern Missouri Rangers (SMR) are Thrilled to announce that the 2012 Show-Me Shootout will be held at the New SMR OUTLAW RANGE!! Yep, sometimes you’re forced to make some changes & we had to move out of Branson, but the improvements will be well worth it.

BIGGER BETTER SHOOTING

The SMR Outlaw Range sit on 27 acres just S. of Marshfield MO. Yeah! 27 acres – which means NO MORE CRAMPED STAGES! Stages for the 2012 Show-Me Shootout will be approx. twice as wide as previous years, eliminating the elbow to elbow shooting conditions of the past. We’re shooting into a hill/natural berm facing NORTH. No more shooting into the Sun first thing in the morning!! And, no huge hill to climb anymore. We all remember trudging up & down that hill in Branson, but not anymore. 27 acres on a slightly rolling field with plenty of level ground from Vendors, parking, and celebrating fall in the Ozarks.

A new road to the range is currently under construction – specifically laid out to accommodate the larger RV’s & campers and of course smaller vehicles. It’ll be done this summer in plenty of time for the SMSO. We’ve also secured another 5-7 acres adjacent to the range for dry camping during the event.

*UPDATE! New Road Completed*

In past years, when we worked with temporary staging, the actual “shooting” aspect of the Show-Me Shootout has unfortunately been a little lacking. We are determined to improve that now that we’re on our new Home Range. With increased space & permanent stages (which we will be improving systematically each year) shooters can expect the Competition to be Better Than Ever.

*UPDATE OCT 2, 2012 – Cowboy Garage Sale*

We are adding a COWBOY GARAGE SALE, Thurs. from 9:00am-3:00 pm.  Bring your things with EACH one labeled with your alias and price.  Also include your cell phone IF YOUR ARE WILLING TO NEGOTIATE on price. We do not have the best reception so please don’t count on this option when setting your price.  The ladies hosting the garage sale will only collect the money.  You must pick up all items by 3:00 pm.

FOOD AT THE RANGE FOR 2012

While Friday nights Dinner & the BBQ lunch Saturday are covered in the Shoot Fee, we wanted to do something different on the range this year. We took this opportunity to lower the overall shoot fee and still have meals available at the range. Why? Well, this past year a group of 4H kids got involved with SMR. In case you’re unaware, 4H has added Cowboy Shooting to there Shooting Sports program. The Green Co. 4H group had a number of kids interested and wanting to get involved in CAS. They contacted us and asked if they could shoot with us (even though their rules are a little different), and perhaps cone out and practice at the range during our scheduled practice days. We said, “HELL YEAH!” These kids along with their parents and sponsors have been great. Always eager to pitch in and help & excited about shooting. They’ve already competed in some national 4H events now. We thought it’d be a great fundraiser for them to do the other meals on the range. This is something they do at Co. Fairs & other events. So… the 4H Cowboy Action Shooters, their parents, & sponsors will be providing meals at the range for 2012. They’ll have breakfast available Friday, Saturday, and maybe Sunday, & they’ll have lunch for Thursday & Friday all at a reasonable cost. All proceeds from the meals will go back to help fund the CAS part of the Green Co. 4H program to keep these kids shooting. That means you’ll get a great meal at a reasonable price, and get to help support the future of our sport at the same time!

LODGING & THE PARTIES

There are a number of hotels/motels in the Marshfield & Springfield area. However the Friday Night Banquet/Social/Casino Night will be held at the Ramada Oasis in Springfield. We’ve also secured a “Special Rate” for the SMSO of just $73.00 per night. With indoor and outdoor pools, breakfast available at the hotel, frig & microwave in every room, and, Smokers, either a balcony or outside door in every room. Each adult guest will also receive a Free Drink Certificate for the bar downstairs & larger rooms and suites are available. Saturdays activities will be a little different this year. Why? Well we had some requests we’re trying to accommodate so we’re mixing things up. After the shooting on Saturday we’ll be hosting everyone at the range for a catered BBQ lunch. Scores will be tabulated during the meal and we’ll have the awards ceremony right there on the range immediately after we chow down. Those folks looking to get an early start can then get on the road and the rest of us will come back that night for an old fashioned Bonfire Party!! Let your hair down. Bring your fiddle or guitar and maybe a beverage or two and let’s have a good time!

Once we iron out the final details I’ll be posting all that info right here on the site (hopefully with links to expedite reservations etc.). We have a club meeting Sat. to finish up some of those and I anticipate a post/update with details early next week. Thanks for the interest & we look forward to seeing you in Oct.
